Meet Councilman Alvin O’Neal

Proudly Serving Stratford’s Third District (South End)

Councilman Alvin O’Neal brings heart, hustle, and hands-on leadership to Stratford’s Third District. A lifelong resident and proud graduate of Birdseye Elementary SchoolJohnson Academy, and Stratford High School, Alvin has deep roots in the South End—and he’s never forgotten where he comes from.

Currently in his second year back on the Town Council, Alvin previously served seven years advocating for his neighbors and building relationships that deliver real results. He now serves as Chairman of both the Building Needs Committee and the Community Development Subcommittee, and is a member of the Public Works Committee, where he fights for smart investments, stronger infrastructure, and equitable growth across Stratford.

Alvin’s passion for public service didn’t come from politics—it came from home. Inspired by his late mother’s quiet acts of kindness and unwavering commitment to her community, Alvin carries that legacy forward through servant leadership. His approach is simple: listen, show up, and work hard for the people who put their trust in him.

He’s more than a councilman—he’s a coach, mentor, and advocate for youth. Alvin serves as Chairman of the Bridgeport Pop Warner Raiders and also coaches within the program, which supports hundreds of children across Bridgeport and Stratford through football, cheerleading, and mentorship. He’s also the driving force behind Unity in the Community, an annual South End celebration that brings residents together for a day of pride and purpose.

From championing fair housing and transparent government, to securing funding to protect Stratford’s schools and expand youth opportunities, Alvin O’Neal is committed to building a Stratford that works for everyone.

What Alvin Stands For:

  • Stronger Schools: Advocating for funding to avoid closures, prevent layoffs, and raise graduation rates.
  • Safer Streets: Pushing for infrastructure upgrades, security measures, and neighborhood improvements.
  • Youth Empowerment: Coaching, mentoring, and investing in programs that give kids a better path forward.
  • Community Unity: Promoting events and initiatives that bring Stratford residents together.
  • Government That Listens: Fighting for transparency, accountability, and fair representation at Town Hall.

“I believe in showing up for the people who count on me—not just during elections, but every day. My job is to serve, and I take that seriously.”
— Councilman Alvin O’Neal
